Gay and Transgender Individuals

Our firm works with gay and transgender individuals from various countries to which they are afraid to return including Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and other Latin American, Asian, or African countries. To learn more about political asylum, click here.

A few years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court, in a landmark decision, overruled the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). This means that same-sex married couples can now receive the same immigration benefits as opposite-sex couples.  Also, same-sex couples in California now have the legal right to marry and take advantage of immigration benefits.
